Day 22, 10,500 words

I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay behind on this. Writing 1700 words daily is hard work, and so far the best I've managed is about 1200. On one day, two weeks ago. Since then the words have both flowed and flown.

Part of my problem is, I realized last week that after hitting the 9,000 mark all I've managed to do is restart the same story three times from three different perspectives. I hope I'm not alone in this. Time to pick a character and stick with it. Fortunately, I've got a good group that's central to the story and should be fun to follow.

But first, I've got a city to destroy and lives to ruin. All in a day's work.

My muse is a bitch.

It's day 6 and I've only hit about 3800 words. I should be closer to 10,000 by now, so I've got a lot of catching up to do.

I think it's really about time. I've had other things to do during the week and it's really interfered with my writing. On the other hand, I've got a couple of good characters lined up and the plot pretty well outlined. So there's progress of a sort.

Day 3, 3200 words

Falling a little short of the 1,667 words needed to maintain writing velocity, but still doing pretty well. I'm on Chapter 3 of "Descent" now, and so far I've had about five lines of dialogue and no conversation. Oh well. At least there's a fair bit of action.

Check the sidebar for an excerpt of today's writing effort.

I like the werewolf. I think I'm going to have to develop him a little more. He'll be fun to work with in the future.

50,000 words? Am I F***ing insane?

NaNoWriMo Day 2

I'd have done this yesterday, but I was actually busy. Not writing, admittedly - I've already had a slight head start on that - but still busy nonetheless.

Also, I've been trying to get on the NaNoWriMo site and post a few comments, but have been completely unsuccessful. Every time I try I get a timeout - no luck, no log on, no comments.

I can only assume my fellow novelists are busy posting comments and questions instead of writing as they're supposed to be doing :). Anyone else having that problem?

On the other hand, the writing is going well. I'm at 2,500 words and counting, not including the words I've wasted on this blog entry. I'm well into chapter two of "Descent", and am trying to ratchet up the gothic in it. Vampires and werewolves and demons, oh my!

More later,
